Marie-Vincent is proud to announce the official inauguration of its new Montréal centre, now located at 4100 rue Molson, in the heart of the Angus neighbourhood. With more than 20,000 square feet at its disposal, the organization can now welcome a greater number of children and adolescents as it strives to improve service accessibility and support more victims of sexual violence. Needless to say, the number of victims is still far too high.

Facilities well-suited to significant increase in services

In the past two years, Marie-Vincent has gone to great lengths to meet the needs of young victims. Since 2021, Marie-Vincent has created 43 new positions, recruiting 31 new professionals who now provide direct services in prevention, training and support for young victims. The team has grown in leaps and bounds: from 35, it now brings together over 80 employees! Marie-Vincent has also reviewed its sexual violence intervention program to offer support that is better designed to meet the needs of its young clientele. More specifically, crisis intervention services for families, psychosocial support as well as group therapies for children aged 6 to 8 and 9 to 12 were added to the psychotherapeutic support already offered.

Creating a welcoming environment better suited to this new momentum and able to meet this tremendous growth was essential. Marie-Vincent is now more than ever in a position to offer comprehensive and personalized services to young people and their family, ensuring they get the reassuring care they need.

“The new Marie-Vincent Montréal location is so much more than just a physical space. It is the culmination of a shared vision, an unwavering commitment to young victims of sexual violence. In this safe and welcoming environment, we not only offer essential services but our dedication and expertise so children and teens who overcame the unimaginable can look toward a more hopeful future,” says Stéphanie Gareau, Marie-Vincent Executive Director.

“Marie-Vincent is a cornerstone of our efforts to help young victims of sexual violence rebuild their lives. We are profoundly honoured by the support of the governments of Québec and Canada and of our donors. With their help, our dream of building a world free of sexual violence toward children edges ever closer. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work carried out each and every day by the Marie-Vincent team. We are working together to offer these young victims a better future, where their voices are heard and their potential is fully realized,” declares Jessica N. Pathy, Chair of the Board of Directors.

Safe, secure and supported

The new location provides a welcoming environment where children and teens can feel safe, secure and supported throughout their therapy. It also offers an environment better suited to the well-being of our personnel, an essential asset of primary importance for our team to pursue its invaluable work each day. Given that the organization, in collaboration with its partners, offers all its services under one roof, this new location greatly improves the effectiveness and coordination of the work carried out by each professional. As a result, our response is better attuned to the needs of the young victims and their family. With this new space and environment, Marie-Vincent can continue its work toward building a protective community for young people.
