For its 50th anniversary, Marie-Vincent brought together two of its iconic events on November 20 at the Olympia in Montreal, during an evening full of surprises, emotions, and solidarity.

An exceptional mobilization of the business community
Marvin on the Rock, now in its eighth year, was co-chaired by Caitlin Rose, Partner and Co-Head, Private Equity at FASKEN, and Léonie Larose, Partner, Assurance and Accounting at MNP. During the evening, 12 teams, made up of business leaders with no musical experience, took to the stage for the cause and gave musical performances, each more thrilling than the last.

Meanwhile, Ombré provided a vibrant venue for networking, celebrating, and getting involved. Chaired this year by Vincent Fraser, President and CEO of Croesus, this 7th edition was a continuation of the event initiated by Marvin’s Circle and led by its co-chairs, Marie-Claude Vernier (Associate Vice-President, Wealth Management Solutions, National Bank Financial) and Karine Lagacé-Paquette (Crown Prosecutor).
“It seems only natural to me to get involved with the Marie-Vincent Foundation, as the cause of young people is particularly close to my heart. In addition to having been a member of a school board, I also co-founded an organization whose mission is to raise awareness about the hypersexualization of young women. For these reasons, I want to get involved with vulnerable young people. Marie-Vincent’s mission is essential in a society where the needs are so pressing.”
— Marie-Claude Vernier, co-chair of Marvin’s Circle and Associate Vice-President, Wealth Management Solutions, National Bank Financial
Throughout the evening, the worlds of Marvin on the Rock and Ombré came together, from the welcoming cocktail reception to the dance floor.
The result? An amazing evening that raised $569,552 thanks to the generosity of the 500 people in attendance, providing tangible support for Marie-Vincent’s mission: to help young victims of sexual violence and prevent such violence.
An evening filled with emotion
Co-hosted by Ève Laurier, Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs at Bombardier, and Jean-Michel Anctil, comedian and actor, the evening allowed those in attendance to highlight the importance of Marie-Vincent’s work and the extent of sexual violence in Quebec.

In a powerful moment, Lisa Clowery, president and CEO of Marie-Vincent, invited the audience to stand up to illustrate the scale of the various statistics surrounding this problem.

Alison Green, a dedicated member of the Marie-Vincent board of directors, founder of the home care company Bien Chez Soi, and survivor of sexual violence, bravely spoke out to share her personal experience. She was accompanied by Justin Trudeau, former prime minister and close friend, who came to support her in one of the most poignant moments of the evening.

A surprise tribute was also paid to Dominic Bécotte, founder of Marvin on the Rock and former member of Marie-Vincent’s board of directors for 12 years. Thanks to his commitment, more than $2 million has been raised since the event was created.

Talent, a wild mood, and surprises galore
When it came to the musical acts, the different teams put on a show that dazzled (and delighted!) the audience. Costumes, hairstyles, makeup, choreography… everything was designed to make each team shine! Thanks to the flawless preparation of Julie Dassylva, vocal coach on the TV show La Voix, accompanied by her band and supported by La Shop Studios, there were no wrong notes on stage… or almost none!
Congratulations to all the teams for your outstanding performances:

- Whitney Rockley, Scott MacDonald, Ha Nguyen, Udit Bhatnagar, Mickey Mi, Susan Malik, Fasih Kareem & Pritish Sehgal, McRock Capital
- Daniel Labrecque & Ève Laurier, DNA Capital / Bombardier

In the end, it was Mr. Jean-Patrick Dallaire from Langlois Avocats and his mashup of songs by The Police that won the public vote and, with it, the famous Marvin on the Rock trophy, which he will keep until the next edition. Congratulations and thank you for the show!

The audience was treated to not only a meal, a buffet, and an incredible show, but also a photo booth, courtesy of Vo-Dignard Provost, for those who wanted to capture the evening. A fabulous balloon drop, provided by Coco Ballons, marked the unveiling of the amount raised during the evening.
Following this exciting atmosphere, guests were then able to show off their talents on the dance floor. With DJ Bruno at the turntables, the party kept going until midnight.
An evening of appreciation and gratitude
Everyone involved in planning this event showed amazing dedication and commitment to Marie-Vincent’s mission. First among them were our co-chair partners.
“Every child deserves to grow up in safety, dignity, and love. Marvin on the Rock is our way of saying loud and clear that we are here, together, to build that future. I am proud to be involved with the Marie-Vincent Foundation as co-chair of this event and to be able to promote its mission, as is Fasken, which has proudly supported the cause since the very first edition in 2014.”
— Caitlin Rose, Partner and Co-Head, Private Equity, FASKEN“It is a privilege to co-chair Marvin on the Rock! This event perfectly embodies our desire to mobilize the business community around an essential cause: supporting Marie-Vincent and its crucial work with young victims of sexual violence.”
— Léonie Larose, Partner, Assurance and Accounting, MNP“We are proud to present the Ombré space and contribute to the essential mission of the Marie-Vincent Foundation. Through our support of Marvin’s Circle, we reaffirm the importance of joining forces in the business community to protect young people and build a safer future.”
— Vincent Fraser, President and CEO, Croesus.
