Constantly striving to make the most of our collaborations, Marie-Vincent and the Crime Victims Assistance Centre (CAVAC) of Laval have entered an agreement to implement the Child Witness Program in our centre. Children from the Laval region who use Marie-Vincent services will now be able to rely on the support of a Laval CAVAC caseworker while visiting our Montréal Centre.
This agreement is in line with similar agreements reached between Marie-Vincent and the Montréal and Montérégie CAVACS.
Comprehensive support
Testifying in court can be stressful for children. This program helps reduce stress thanks to five preparatory meetings and by accompanying the young victims when they are in court.
Children visit the courthouse to familiarize themselves with the environment where they will be asked to give their testimony. Another meeting is also scheduled after the children’s day in court to take stock of the experience with them.
The benefits are real and tangible and Marie-Vincent is proud to help extend this program to a greater number of children in partnership with its allies at the Laval CAVAC.
