On June 19, Centre Marie-Vincent in Montréal held a tree-planting event, organized in partnership with Soverdi, Société de verdissement du Montréal métropolitain, which for 30 years has been implementing strategies for the greening of Montréal. In addition to being an environmental initiative, this highly symbolic gesture represents Marie-Vincent’s deep roots in its community, the growth and vitality trees inspire, and the well-being they bring to the living environment and the mental health of our young beneficiaries and staff.

A day of community commitment

Marie-Vincent was fortunate to partner with Soverdi to carry out the planting activity. Thanks to donations from Collège Jean-Eudes and Caisse d’économie solidaire Desjardins, Soverdi was able to plant, with the help of volunteers, 39 trees selected to grow perfectly on the site. Members of Marie-Vincent’s sustainable development committee, representatives of Caisse d’économie solidaire Desjardins and of Société de développement Angus (SDA) were also present. Their participation in this initiative was an inspiring reminder of the importance of solidarity in building a protective community.

“For Marie-Vincent, this activity represents much more than a greening effort. The tree is already well established in Marie-Vincent’s values, with the inauguration of the Donor Tree in downtown Montréal as thanks to the individuals whose boundless generosity enables us to maintain our mission. The tree is also a powerful metaphor for the growth and renewal our young beneficiaries experience through their therapeutic journey. Just as trees take root and grow, the young people we support find strength and stability through the services and support they receive under our roof.”

– Stéphanie Gareau, Marie-Vincent’s Executive Director

“For me, this tree-planting is a wonderful activity that symbolizes my deep roots in Marie-Vincent’s mission. Each tree planted testifies to my commitment to offering a safer, greener and healthier future to young victims of sexual violence.”

– Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin, Actress and Ambassador for Marie-Vincent

“At Soverdi, we believe that every tree planted is a step towards a greener, healthier and more sustainable future for Montréal and its residents. Collaborating with organizations like the Marie-Vincent is essential to our mission of giving back to the community, especially to the most vulnerable. Planting these trees, which brings together many participants from different backgrounds, proves once again that we can achieve concrete, inspiring and transformative projects when we combine our efforts.”

– Simon Racine, Soverdi’s Executive Director

“We are delighted to be part of this Marie-Vincent initiative. The SDA is developing an eco-district where residents, corporate tenants, employees and visitors can enjoy a healthy environment. This activity reinforces our deep commitment to supporting a healthy community.”

– Charles Larouche, Executive Vice President of the SDA
