Severe repercussions can also manifest in multiple areas of functioning, including adaptation and interpersonal relationships, emotional regulation, cognition, memory, neurological functions, mood, behavior, attention, attachment, and impulse control.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\n\n\t\t<section class=\"text-standard section-block with-background purple-theme\" data-scroll-section>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"row row-main\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-12 col-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"title title-2\">Emotional and Mental Health Issues\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"text\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Young victims of sexual violence are significantly more at risk of exhibiting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Post-traumatic stress symptoms<\/strong> (nightmares, flashbacks, avoidance behaviors, hypervigilance).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anxiety symptoms<\/strong> (fear, nervousness, hypersensitivity).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Depression symptoms<\/strong> (bad mood, negative self-evaluation, difficulty experiencing pleasure).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aggressive behaviors<\/strong> (disrespect, opposition, lying, theft, unjustified aggressive words and gestures toward others, bullying).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Suicidal ideation<\/strong> and suicide attempts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Self-harming behaviors<\/strong> (lacerating skin, severely scratching skin, burning skin).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms of dissociation and depersonalization<\/strong> (feeling of unreality or disconnection from one\u2019s body).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\n\n\t\t<section class=\"text-media-c section-block with-background cream-theme\" data-scroll-section>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"row row-main \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-md-6 violence are more likely to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have lower academic results.<\/li>\n<li>Drop out of school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"title title-2\">Risky Behaviors\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"text\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Young people with a history of sexual violence engage more often in risky behaviors such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Substance abuse.<\/li>\n<li>Multiple sexual partners (increased risk of sexually transmitted infections).<\/li>\n<li>Exchanging sexual acts to meet needs (housing, money, clothing, transportation).<\/li>\n<li>Aggression and violence in relationships.<\/li>\n<li>Running away (nearly twice as likely).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Young people who have been victims of sexual violence are more at risk of experiencing a teenage pregnancy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Girls who are victims of sexual assault are 2.2 times more likely than their non-victim peers to become pregnant.<\/li>\n<li>Boys who are victims of sexual assault are more likely than their non-victim peers to cause a pregnancy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Young victims of sexual violence are more at risk than non-victims to present a series of physical health problems (obesity, gastrointestinal disorders, cardiopulmonary symptoms, diabetes, gynecological problems).<\/p>\n<p>These consequences can lead to major disruptions in the mental development trajectory of young people and often have long-term repercussions, potentially leading to dysfunction and significant distress in adulthood.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\n\n\t\t<section class=\"text-cta-a section-block
