Movement on the Board of Directors

This past June 13, Marie-Vincent’s Board of Directors successfully held its Annual General Meeting (AGM). It was a unique event, being the first time all staff had been invited to attend. During the encounter, we reviewed the achievements of the past year and discussed the outlook for the year ahead. Furthermore, as is often the case at AGMs, we formalized certain changes to the structure of our board of directors.

End of Mandates

We previously announced the recent departures of Annie Marsolais and Éric Kimmel, but we also bid farewell to two other members of the board, Claude Guévin and Benoit Chapellier.

Claude Guévin: A key figure in the history of Marie-Vincent

Claude Guévin’s departure from the Marie-Vincent Board of Directors marks the end of nearly two decades of dedicated service. Claude has made an invaluable strategic and financial contribution to Marie-Vincent, cementing a cornerstone in the fight against sexual violence towards children and young people.

As chair of the finance and audit committee, he played an essential role in monitoring the organization’s rigorous financial management, and his presence has been felt in many of Marie-Vincent’s campaigns and initiatives. It’s a fact that Marie-Vincent would not be what it is today without Claude’s commitment and presence at our side. We thank him from the bottom of our hearts for his loyalty, steadfastness and intelligence, all of which have contributed greatly to our mission and success. Claude, we will miss you enormously and your legacy will be felt at Marie-Vincent for many years to come. Thank you!

Benoit Chapellier: A strategic contribution to Marie-Vincent

Benoit Chapellier leaves his role with the Board of Directors of Marie-Vincent after three years, during which time his expertise in communications, marketing and branding was a major asset. His input was a catalyst in the deliberations that led to changes in Marie-Vincent’s positioning and image. Active participation in meetings of the board and the communications committee, as well as his presence at other events, were greatly appreciated. Benoit Chapellier is not only a talented communicator and marketing strategist, but also a team player who has contributed to building robust projects for positive and sustainable growth. We thank you for everything!

New Arrivals

In the past few months we have had the privilege of welcoming new members Linda Bergeron, Judith Dorvil, Jean-Marc Potvin and Alexandre L’Heureux. We are also proud to announce the addition of two remarkable women, Sonya Branco and Annie Martin, to our board.

Sonya Branco: An outstanding background in finance and business management

Sonya Branco is a long-time ally of Marie-Vincent. She was part of the organizing committee for our flagship fundraising event, the CFO Dinner, and in that capacity was already raising the profile of our organization in the business community. Her arrival on the board is a logical extension of that involvement.

In May 2016, Sonya  was appointed Executive Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of CAE. In that role, she oversaw the company’s global finance and procurement activities, covering more than 250 training sites in over 40 countries. Her diverse background includes valuable experience in public accounting and financial reporting, strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions.

With more than 20 years of experience in finance, Sonya also held the position of Comptroller at CAE from 2011 onwards. Before joining the company, she had worked at BCE in mergers and acquisitions, and at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in auditing and consulting.

Sonya is a chartered professional accountant with a degree in commerce from Concordia University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from McGill University. She is known for her professional acumen and in 2020 was named one of Canada’s most influential women by the Réseau des femmes exécutives. We are confident that Sonya will make a vital contribution to Marie-Vincent. Welcome!

Annie Martin: A communications and marketing leader

Annie Martin is a leader in communications, marketing and business development support, with 17 years of experience in the financial sector. At Sun Life’s Quebec Office of the President, Annie manages a team responsible for executive outreach, public relations, internal communications, sponsorships and philanthropy.

Before joining Sun Life, she worked for the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec for 10 years, where she held various positions in public affairs. Annie is a certified corporate director of the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés of Université Laval.

With 15 years’ experience in administration, Annie has sat on the Board of Directors of the Fondation Les petits trésors, was Chair of the Board of Directors of the Centre d’aide aux victimes d’actes criminels (CAVAC) de la Montérégie and, until recently, was a member of the Board of Moisson Rive-Sud, chairing the Governance and HR Committee. Annie is also a proud ambassador of the Laurent-Duvernay-Tardif Foundation, whose mission is to encourage sports and creativity to help young people thrive and do well in school.

We are convinced that Annie’s impressive experience with non-profits will be an asset to Marie-Vincent. We welcome her to our board and are proud to have her by our side!

We thank all our board members, past and present, for their dedication, commitment and continued support of Marie-Vincent. Together, we have the power to bring about change!
