Intervention with Parents of Children Victims of Sexual Assault

Description

The issue of sexual assault during childhood is a specific field of practice for which many caseworkers say they are ill-equipped. This training is designed to provide theoretical and practical knowledge about working with parents of children victims of sexual assault. It will allow participants to practice specific intervention skills related to the family crisis in connection with disclosure as well as the modalities of individual and joint intervention with the parents.

Objectifs

The main objective is to equip learners to accompany the parent and offer support in the trajectory subsequent to the child's disclosure of sexual assault.

More specifically, by the end of the training, learners will be able to:

  • Define the potential consequences for the family subsequent to a child's disclosure of sexual assault;
  • Describe the interventions to be implemented based on the needs, strengths, and issues presented by the parent.
