    The Lantern program is a sexual violence prevention program for preschoolers and the adults in their lives. It was developed based on the needs of parents, educators, and caseworkers in the various early childhood settings such as drop-in centres and community organizations. The Lantern program provides training and tools to help prevent sexual violence through sex education and the promotion of egalitarian relationships. Of course, the program is tailored to the developmental level of young children. 

    The Lantern program developed by the Marie-Vincent Foundation makes it possible to:

    • Find answers and tools for educating young children about sexuality;
    • Promote the development of healthy and egalitarian relationships between girls and boys;
    • Better protect young children from sexual abuse.

According to the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) task force on sexual behaviour problems (SBPs) in children, these behaviours are likely to have a negative impact on both the young person who engages in them and their family and social environment (Gagnon & Tourigny, 2011).

    The problem of SBPs in children is gaining increasing recognition, both in terms of the extent of the phenomenon and the severity of the associated factors and problems (Lepage et al., 2010. Lussier et al., 2019).

    The emergence of sexual behaviour problems in children is a significant social concern. According to the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) task force on sexual behaviour problems (SBPs) in children, these behaviours are likely to have a negative impact on both the young person who engages in them and their family and social environment (Gagnon & Tourigny, 2011).

    The problem of SBPs in children is gaining increasing recognition, both in terms of the extent of the phenomenon and the severity of the associated factors and problems (Lepage et al., 2010. Lussier et al., 2019).
