Prevention

Funded by the Ministère de la Justice du Québec, a project that aims to prevent the phenomenon of online sexual violence was implemented in three schools in the Montréal, Laval and Montérégie.

In its first year, the project helped shed light on the prevalence and consequences of online sexual violence in school settings and to raise awareness about the issue among young people, high school administrations, teachers, professionals and parents.

Surveys and focus groups were held for more than 500 students. Here are some of the results:

Within each school, a prevention committee made up of motivated, creative young people took part in developing a concrete, original prevention and action plan to raise awareness of the issue among their peers. For example, the École secondaire Leblanc de Laval created a video (in French only).
